25km | +1,190m gain
The race starts in a broad valley where golden rice fields are surrounded by mountains. Running on dirt trail you will pass numerous pretty villages heading deeper into the Nature Reserve on a section with some challenging climbs, then the trail links back up with the 70km and 42km route.
Before reaching the stunning Kho Muong village racers will be rewarded with an utterly spectacular view of a valley ringed with incredibly steep, jungled limestone mountains. During late May the colours of the rice fields are at their very best, so the knockout views from the lookout point of vibrant rice paddies and jungle-clad mountains will make all but the most fiercely competitive stop for a photo opportunity. We’ll also have a photographer here some of the time so be sure to look at your trail running best here!
The descent down to the valley here is very technical and will require care. Once down in the valley a flat section of beautiful trail leads through the picturesque village of Kho Muong from where you will face a long final climb before a short hilly tarmac section. After descending the finishing stretch of trail crosses some bamboo and wood bridges and brings you to Ban Hang Race Village where a well deserved meal and the finish party await.
